Hear the preliminary results of IREM’s research project to define the real estate asset manager position by exploring the roles, responsibilities and requirements placed on individuals working in this capacity. Presented by Dr. Dustin Read of Virginia Tech, the session will outline the key asset management functions and tasks, as well as the skills required to complete them in practice. Dr. Read will also share insights on how sophisticated ownership groups and real estate service firms are sourcing talent to fill asset management positions within their organizations. Attend this session and:

Dustin Read, PhD/JD

Assistant Professor of Property Management and Real Estate, Virginia Tech University
Dustin C. Read, PhD/JD, serves as an Assistant Professor of Property Management and Real Estate within the College of Liberal Arts and Human Sciences at Virginia Tech. His teaching responsibilities include courses in asset management, commercial leasing and real estate development. Dr. Read's research interests include land use policy, property management and urban growth.
